Ever Feel Stuck in the Rat Race? Ever feel like your business is running you instead of you running your business? We got into business so we could be our own boss, make our own rules, live life on our own terms. Then we discovered that owning a business could be just as much of a rat race than working 9 to 5. Until we get the right people on the bus and workable systems and processes in place, there is a lot to do. We’re pulled in many directions at the same time. This can include scheduling appointments, sales and marketing, customer service, product/service research and development, strategic planning, and so on. There is a habit that plagues most business owners today. They spend more time working in instead of on their business. There are many reasons for this such as the need for control, perfectionism, and lack of leadership. None of these are permanent problems, but it is up to the business owner to do something about it. Here are three things you can do right away: 1. Spend 20% of Your Time Working ON the Business. Trust me when I tell you that I realize this is simple in word and not so easy in deed. And if you don’t do it, nothing is going to change. 2. Pick One Task to Delegate to Someone Else. When you do, you will begin honing the habit of becoming a leader. 3. Take a 3 Minute Vacation. Whenever you’re feeling stressed out, take three minutes and remember a really fun experience or think about the next vacation you’re going to take.
