This means any closings or refinances set to take place in the coming weeks will still stay on track and should close as anticipated during that time frame absent a more stringent shelter in place order or business closure order.nnThere is some gray area as to whether the estate planning and estate administration portion of the practice is deemed essential in Governor Baker’s Order. The vast majority of work for estate planning and estate administration clients: including initial consultations, intake and information gathering and even the preparation and transmission of draft documents can be done either remotely, electronically, by telephone or video conferencing. The difficult portion of finishing these tasks will be the original signatures, notarizations and witnessing of these signatures that will be needed to complete these matters. nnNote that there is currently pending legislation regarding the use of online remote notarization but that is hasn’t been approved by the legislature here in the Commonwealth yet.
