Here is our final post celebrating Women's History Month! Meet Lorena P. Garcia, Associate Attorney. What woman inspires you and why? The women who have inspired me the most are the women in my family. It is my mom, abuelas, tias, primas, sobrinas who have by far had the greatest impact in my life and who have shaped the woman I am today. I am forever grateful to them. Shout out to my prima Rosa Valdez who did a wonderful art exhibition a few years ago and as part of her exhibition created a mural of portraits of women in our family. How do you empower yourself and the women around you? I believe that embracing the concept of "living outside your comfort zone" can be incredibly empowering. Frequently, our fear of failure acts as a barrier, preventing us from exploring new opportunities or pursuing endeavors that truly interest us. While staying within our comfort zone feels safe and familiar, true personal growth often emerges when we venture beyond our comfort zone. Were there any women who were trailblazers or motivated you in your career path? My mother was a trailblazer in her generation, being the first to graduate from college. At the age of 21, she successfully completed Nursing School while also giving birth to her first child — me. Nursing school demands firm commitment, offering minimal days off, with no exceptions, not even for childbirth. Fortunately, luck was on my mother's side as she went into labor over the weekend, and I was born on a Monday.
