Abacus was founded by Mark Garver of Garver Family Farms in Monroe, in 1978. At the age of 16, Mark began taking an interest in bookkeeping for the local farmers in his area, and soon an interest for taxes arose. Being a farmer in a small town, Mark knew the obstacles many small businesses faced and he wanted to keep things as simple and easy to understand for them as possible. Less than 10 years later, Mark decided to offer his services to more people, getting his EA certification and going above and beyond to help small businesses grow, stay on top of their obligations, and keep the headaches out.
