Born in Los Angeles CA, Derrick is a graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Academy in Glynco, Georgia. In 1998 he was sworn in as a Federal Agent with the United States Immigration and Nationalization Service in Los Angeles, CA. Derrick served in prominent roles of increasing responsibilities with the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks he was assigned to the Joint Terrorist Task Force Unit in Washington D.C.
