When you act as a good Samaritan, your only wish is to be of assistance to others, particularly if you have a specific skill set that can aid in an emergency. We want to live in a world where we do not hesitate in helping others. For a select few, though, this means making the split-second decision in placing yourself in danger – and that was my husband. The outcome was shocking, horrific, and traumatic; not only for my husband but also for his colleagues (the local fire department) and our entire small-town community.
