Several years ago we bought a fixer upper in the mountains that we felt would make a great retreat for our family and grandkids. At first our plan was to pool our family efforts together so we can get the majority of the major repairs done then continue to some of the smaller cosmetic stuff. Shortly after securing a 2nd loan for repairs our oldest son had to relocate for his job. The remodeling" process was moving painfully slow and became far more costly due to having to outsource many of the repairs to contractors.
