We thought it would be appropriate to re-create a beer that people would have enjoyed way back in 1891 when the firm was established. The pre-prohibition lagers were generally a bit more flavorful and had a bit more color than the American light lagers that emerged after Prohibition. But they were also brewed to emulate the light, crisp, tasty lagers that European immigrants experienced back in their homelands. We sourced ingredients to get as close as we could to what would have been common back then: floor malted American barley, corn, wheat and North American hops.
