Another victory! Earlier this week, our client Jessie Nino prevailed in a lawsuit against his former employer for violating the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act. Among other things, we alleged that Mr. Nino was not provided the full amount of sick leave he was entitled to under the EPSLA when he was fired 4 days into his 7 day self-quarantine done on the advice of his health care provider. The jury agreed! Despite the fact that we did not prevail on all claims, the importance of establishing employee’s rights to take time off based on their doctor’s advice cannot be understated.
