I have been writing a monthly podcast that focuses on building your financial house either on sand or on a firm foundation of stone. This is taken from a Bible passage in Matthew chapter 7, verses 24 to 27.nnWhen I was reading Scott’s blog from last week, it made me remember the time when my wife Marna and I were able to travel to California. During the day, I was at an investment conference and had the privilege of meeting and hearing John Wooden. In case you don’t know who John Wooden is, he was the famous and incredibly successful college basketball coach for UCLA and won several championships in the ‘70s. His principles were terrific, not only for basketball but for life as well, and he created a pyramid of success, which I still have to this day.nnLater in the afternoon, our hosts told us we had experienced an earthquake measuring around 5.0 on the Richter scale. However, none of us at the conference knew there had been an earthquake because our building was designed to withstand earthquakes even more powerful than that. Its foundation was built on springs and moved around. When I returned to our hotel room, my wife eagerly asked me if I had felt the earthquake because it had awakened her during a massage treatment. This also was back when your cell phone had roaming charges, and you didn’t use it when you were out of state.nnHow similar is that to creating and maintaining a comprehensive financial plan that ensures you have a strong foundation when your world starts to shake violently?
